Confirmation Page for Scheduling Interview

Thank you for your email!

Thank you for your interest in GWNROTC. Someone from our unit will get back to you shortly about your request to conduct an officer interview for your national scholarship application. For now, here is some information about our unit.

If you would like to visit, please fill out the visit form. Monday and Wednesday mornings are excellent times to visit as you can shadow a MIDN in Naval Science class at 0800. They will be available to answer your questions as well. If you would like to shadow a MIDN or meet with one on your date of visit, please ensure you relay that to the POC, who will be in touch with you. I will also be personally available in 2035 F ST NW to answer any of your questions. We also host walk-in visits to the unit during regular business hours (Monday-Friday 0800-1500) at 2035 F St NW, Washington DC 20052.

Here is some information to get you started

All scholarship applications begin online.

This website posts the most current eligibility criteria and application guidelines. If you have further questions about the NROTC scholarship application process, please contact the NSTC NROTC Candidate Guidance Office at [email protected] (850)452-7272/2356.

Once your on-line application is completed and submitted, an Officer Selection Recruiter will be in touch with you to complete the application process (in-person scheduling interviews, medical exams, etc). Do not delay in completing that on-line application. The deadline is January 31st. I recommend candidates submit their completed applications no later than September 1st.

The NROTC scholarship applications are screened through the national selection board, and the individual NROTC units at universities and colleges across the country are in contact with students once they have been awarded the NROTC scholarship and accepted to an individual school.

An application to the NROTC program and an application for admission to a school are a separate and distinct process. You must complete both. An NROTC Scholarship acceptance DOES NOT have any effect on whether you are accepted to a university or college. It is up to the applicant to apply to all of the schools listed on the NROTC application. Whether a school admits, you are entirely up to the school. The scholarship itself does not weigh with the admission offices, and similarly, admission to a school does not affect the award of the NROTC scholarship.

My role here is to answer any questions you may have specifically about the George Washington University Unit. You may reach me at (202) 994-9107 or [email protected]

Please find information about the NROTC program at George Washington University and our participating consortium institutions (Catholic University, Georgetown University, and Howard University) below. Naval Science classes and the Friday morning professional seminar are conducted on the GWU campus, and you may enroll for cross-town consortium credits at GWU through your individual university’s registrar’s office.

Midshipmen weekly responsibilities include:

  • Commute to the GWU campus for Naval Science class two times a week from 0800-0915 (*this would be an excellent time to visit and sit in on a course)
  • Attend a Professional Seminar (drill) Friday mornings from 0700-0915 (also on the GWU campus) (*this would be an excellent time to visit)
  • PT (Physical Fitness Training) is conducted at the respective host university throughout the week
  • Attend freshman 4/C Orientation the week before classes begin (August) in Quantico, VA
  • Every summer after that midshipmen attend a summer training period (summer cruise) for 3-4 weeks to gain exposure to the Navy Fleet/Marine Corps

“College Program” is the term used for students who participate in the NROTC scholarship without a scholarship in the hopes of earning a partial scholarship award in future years and/or a commission upon graduation.
